How it works
- Register your practice with HealthLink to get your EDI alias
- In MediRecords go to Settings > Configuration > Secure Messaging. Choose HealthLink and enter your alias. Save settings.
- Validate each contact you send to or receive from to ensure correct messaging addresses
- To send a letter or referral, open the patient record in MediRecords, choose New Letter, select HealthLink as the messaging provider, compose the content and send.
- Incoming messages (results, reports, referrals, specialist letters) appear in the Secure Messaging Inbox. You can link them to the correct patient and store them in the relevant section of the record.

Do I need extra software or hardware to use HealthLink with MediRecords?
No. Once configured in Secure Messaging settings, HealthLink works inside MediRecords. No separate client or plugin is required.
Can I send pathology or radiology results to my patient’s record directly?
Yes. When results arrive via HealthLink, they appear in your Inbox and can be linked to the patient record.
Is data transferred securely?
Yes. HealthLink uses encrypted, standards-compliant message delivery rather than email. Messages are only acknowledged once recipient systems import them.
Can I reach specialists, hospitals, pathology and allied health providers through HealthLink?
Yes. The network includes thousands of providers across general practice, hospitals, diagnostic services and allied health across Australia.
Will messages be lost or go to junk mail?
No. HealthLink uses secure message delivery protocols, not email. Once configuration and contact validation are correct, messages are routed directly and securely.
